An Exploration: Using Art & Music in Therapy with Annette Chauncy

This Workshop aims to provide participants with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Guided Imagery and Music Therapy (no prior knowledge or experience required) and explore how this therapy process can be combined with Arts Therapy practices.

There will be a presentation on the Bonnie Method of Guided Imagery and Music Therapy as well as the Music & Imagery process. Both presentations will be followed by an experiential activity and Annette will discuss how she has integrated these methods into her own Art Psychotherapy practice through a case study.

There will be a theory component to this workshop as well as practical explorations when participants will have an opportunity to respond to music followed by group discussion. Participants will be required to have their own art materials available for the practical elements of this workshop

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. To be introduced to the Bonnie Method of Guided Imagery and Music Therapy as well as Music and Imagery.
2. To understand how these GIM methods can be integrated into the Creative Arts Therapy process.
3. To develop a sense of how these processes can serve our clients and the types of clients who may benefit.

PRESENTER BIO

Annette began her arts career in NSW as an art history lecturer and teaching watercolour techniques in her local community. She has published a journal article on abstract art and ballroom dancing; Dancing with Mondrian, after which she moved to Melbourne and obtained her Master of Art Therapy, a Graduate Diploma in Guided Imagery & Music Therapy and a certificate in Couples Therapy. Annette currently works in Bendigo, Victoria, where she has a private practice, annettechauncy.com.

When you register and pay to attend one of our events, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to other members. In order to be respectful of your fellow members and the presenter, please email us as soon as you know you will not be able to attend the event. We keep our events as affordable as possible and need to pay presenters the fee they request. While we understand sometimes urgent matters come up, if registrants cancel at the last minute, we struggle to pay presenters. A full refund will be given if the cancellation occurs more than 24 hours before the event. If the cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before the event, 50% of your registration fee will be refunded only to defray our costs.
