We invite expressive arts therapists to join our transformative online workshop designed to enhance your ability to work effectively with Māori clients and deepen your understanding of indigenous practices. This immersive experience will introduce you to Tikanga Māori (customs) and key cultural models such as 'Ti Hei Wa Mauri Ora'—a life-force evaluation model developed by Teina Piripi and Vivienne Body. This model reflects Māori cultural understandings of life and being.
You will also explore creative concepts and practices guided by 'Mobile Marae Atea', a marae-centred programme. Throughout the workshop, we will emphasize 'Whakawhanaungatanga' (relationship approaches) to foster a respectful and connected social environment.
The program will include both theoretical and practical tasks, and attendees will be required to have art materials on hand. This is an opportunity to expand your therapeutic approach by incorporating culturally responsive practices.
All our mahi is advanced learning due to Te Ao Māori tried and tested and endorsed by Tohunga/Kaumatua/Kuia with 15 years facilitating our workshops and programmes and a combined knowledge and experience base of 40 years. Our training caters for Audio, Kinesthetic and Visual learners. There will be breakout rooms and Q&A. We look forward to your participation!
