Research Seminar on Psychological Resilience and Arts Therapy
Explore a novel pilot study on Mental Health Immunity (MHI) through the perspectives of four art therapists in Singapore. The purpose of this study was to address existing gaps in the understanding of psychological resilience as a dynamic multidimensional construct. Despite its recognition, inconsistencies in defining resilience have hindered the establishment of a universally accepted model and effective intervention strategies. Art therapists, leveraging on the expressive power of art and creativity, might contribute to the current literature by providing a unique perspective that enriches the multifaceted nature of resilience. MHI's framework integrates psychological, social, and biological dimensions for a holistic view of psychological resilience. The study operationalized MHI from art therapists' perspectives, providing insights that enrich theoretical knowledge and guide future research. This presentation has no confronting content and is suitable for all levels of audience interested in mental health research and art therapy.
