GUEST SPEAKER: CLAIRE MARSHALL (CEO Emerge Support)
Before Claire speaks at our AGM, she wanted to let attendees know that the Emerge Board has called for the immediate resignation of its former Chairperson, due to her involvement with distressing and unsafe practices at another organisation. Claire says, “The Emerge team and I have been deeply troubled by the distressing practices we learned of in this week's Four Corners investigation at Irabina Autism Services. What we saw is abusive and antithetical to the trauma-informed, victim-centred and evidence-based work that we do at with victim survivors of family violence at Emerge. I am grateful for the swift and appropriate actions of the Board and the compassion, unwavering professionalism and deep commitment of the Emerge team”. You can see the full statement by the Board of Emerge Support.
Claire will speak about the impact of family violence and how art and play therapy transforms the outcomes of children and families impacted by violence. She will discuss the impacts of trauma, the effectiveness of multi-model interventions and the work of Emerge to disrupt the cycles of violence and trauma.
