September is sexual health awareness month. Engaging in consensual, safe and pleasurable sexual experiences can contribute to a sense of fulfilment, joy and general well-being. However, many healthcare professionals are unprepared to navigate such sensitive, intimate client  taboos, cultural and religious values, and lack of information and education around the topic can impede our ability to have an empowering discussion with clients on their sexual health.

Join us for this introductory experiential talk and discover:

  • Barriers that may impede our ability to have an open dialogue on sexual health in our practice
  • Six principles of sexual health and PLISSIT model as an approach to discussing sexual issues
  • Possible application of the PLISSIT model to promote empowering dialogue with clients

PRESENTER

Dian is a Singapore-based art psychotherapist, sex therapist and sexologist. After over a decade of clinical experience in the public sector, she founded a private practice Nambani. She brings a unique approach to her practice by integrating other therapeutic modalities, including Somatic Experiencing® and coaching.

Her specialisation is in collaborating closely with clients to navigate various challenges, including body image and confidence issues, erectile difficulties and painful sex, and relationship dilemmas such as the aftermath of affairs, mismatched libido, cultural differences and the infamous ‘’mid-life’’ crisis. Dian strives to empower her client to gain clarity, find ease, and take control of their intimate issues and relationships.

Dian is fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia and understands expatriate cultures' unique difficulties, having resided in the UK and Singapore for over 25 years. Her practice embraces inclusivity, welcoming adults and couples of all genders, orientations, and abilities.

When you register and pay to attend one of our events, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to other members. In order to be respectful of your fellow members and the presenter, please email Michelle as soon as you know you will not be able to attend the event. We keep our events as affordable as possible and need to pay presenters the fee they request. While we understand sometimes urgent matters come up, if registrants cancel at the last minute, we struggle to pay presenters. A full refund will be given if the cancellation occurs more than 24 hours before the event. If the cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before the event, 50% of your registration fee will be refunded only to defray our costs.
