This workshop is designed for those who already have some familiarity with some of the aspects that impact the lives and inclusive practice needs of LGBTIQ+ communities and contexts, or who have completed the ANZACATA LGBTIQ+ introduction workshop held in May. We will explore particular questions and areas of focus specific to increasing awareness and capacity within your arts therapy service.

Description: Working with people who identify as part of the LGBTIQ+ community will be part of all our practices as arts therapists, regardless of where we work and if we are aware of these identities for our clients or not. Participants will explore current and historical aspects of challenge and pride relevant to people from the LGBTIQ+ community; utilise an arts based reflective process to explore connection, difference and identity, and be supported to consider practical and theoretical aspects of best practice in relation to informed service delivery for members of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Informed by the local regions of workshop participants, we will explore particular situations of relevance to your location and practice context and consider how the current socio/cultural/political climate may impact the people you work with.

Mode, duration and delivery of workshop: Zoom; 2 Hrs; a mixture of content delivery, group interactive workshop and art based reflective work will be utilised during the workshop.
