One Day Supervision (Refresher) with Vicky Nicholls

This is a 1 day refresher training for professional members who have been supervising for several years. It is for arts therapists who may have already completed supervision training some time ago and want to ensure that their practice is up to date and/or to allow them to meet the requirements to become approved supervisors with ANZACATA, if the training they have done does not add up to the required 20 hours.  Also the new ANZACATA supervision policy requires approved supervisors to 'refresh' their training every 5 years.

Current and relevant readings for all areas of the training will be provided. A survey will be sent out prior to the training date to allow the training to be tailored, where possible, to the specific needs of the participants.

The training will revisit:

1. Definitions of Supervision
2. Models and approaches to supervision
3. Arts Based Integration
4. Clinical Practice
   • Understanding the tasks of the supervisor and tasks of the supervisee
   • Understanding own process as supervisor, developing reflexivity and exploring parallel processes
   • Understanding the impact of contextual issues
5. Ethics and Contracts

PRESENTER

Vicky Nicholls has a broad range of supervision experience, including almost 20 years experience of supervising students from the Master of Art Therapy (Latrobe University) whilst on placement. She had the role of leading supervision groups at the university and providing supervision individually as the placement setting supervisor. She is pleased to offer support to members of ANZACATA who are recent graduates (less than 5 years ago) of any approved ANZACATA course (Tier, Provisional or Professional).
